The amazing places are easy to name: Jerash and Petra, Hegra, Saqqara and the Valley of the Kings, Rome and the Vatican, Paris, the Cliffs of Moher, the Isle of Skye, and the ridgelines of Santa Catalina Island. The candid moment is the harder half, and it is the part I am actually after — a shepherd moving his herd between two Roman columns, a man reading in a doorway with a dog asleep across his legs, women resting against a wall of carved figures three thousand years old. The architecture is the stage. The people are the subject.

I hold a master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration, a teaching credential, and a degree in Film Production — which is probably where the habit of watching for the moment before it happens came from.
